The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Zimbabwe (ICAZ), whose mission is to enhance the International standing and recognition of the qualification Chartered Accountant (Zimbabwe), for the benefit of its members and to support them in providing quality services in the public interest, has appointed Davison Charamba as the new Juniour President.
A botswana based business executive, Davison Charamba is the Finance Director at RPC Data Limited a Chartered Accountant, and the Chairman of the Institute of Chartered of Zimbabwe, Botswana Chapter. Listed on Bloomberg for his experience in a listed company, Charamba has more than 10 years of experience in financial management and accounting, auditing, corporate finance and strategy, and taxation.
In his acceptance speech, Charamba said “As I begin on this exciting journey, I am aware of the many challenges that lay ahead. But what excites me most are the opportunities that are also abundantly existent. We are all united by our membership to this prestigious institute; what’s more, we are all here because we aspire for a better Zimbabwe, and exist to inspire the future generation of accountants. I challenge us to demonstrate our commitment by our participation in the life of the institute – in the local chapters, in committees, in council and more importantly in our financial contribution“.
Davision Charamba has wide knowledge of the southern African economies having worked in Zimbabwe and Botswana, and exposed to the Zambian, Ugandan and Kenyan economies. He is a passionate and diligent accountant who prides himself as a goal-getter. He believes that financial strategy underpins corporate strategy. His analytical abilities and up to date knowledge of financial markets are key strengths to the management team. He is an ardent student of leadership, who believes all things rise and fall on leadership. He served his articles of clerkship at AMG Global Chartered Accountants.
At the end of 2013, Davison Charamba and his colleague took over the operations of the then listed company, RPC Data Limited, in a management buyout publicized by local press. The Botswana Guardian reported that “RPC Data, the information and Technology Company has delisted from Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE), after shareholders approved sale of the company to top management at a recent meeting, BG Business has learnt. The decision means management, which include Managing Director Robert Pool, are now 100 percent owners of the multi-million Pula Company. The management made an offer to buy out the company more than six months ago.
In addition to Pool, other members of the consortium include Davison Charamba, Shejon Nambiath Ramantukutty and Komal Venkat Rao. The RPC buyout, which came in the form of a Scheme Consideration, was estimated at P20, 6 million.”
Davison Charamba is passionate about entrepreneurship development, leadership, and farming, and travels around Southern Africa on business and personal growth interests.
